Just like to say that Rift’s dynamic

05/30/2012 / Comments Off

Just like to say that Rift’s dynamic events were essentially glorified rare spawns. They were headed in the right direction, but they didn’t flesh this type of event out as much as they should have. A little bit of research will show that dynamic events in GW2 are much, much more fleshed out, and much more well done – the outcome of an event has an actual, tangible effect on the world depending on the outcome, and the world can take weeks for an event to cycle back around to where you originally found it. Not to mention many events have branching paths, causing them to play out completely differently between cycles. My favorite part about them is that the results are based directly on player interaction (or lack thereof), meaning the world reacts to your successes and failures. Feels a little bit more real than dialogue wheels – an evolution I greatly appreciate.

there are significant differences both of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.

05/24/2012 / Comments Off

Guild Wars is instanced, has limits in regards to party size (4,6,8,12), utilizes the Holy Trinity and has a lot of what I call “build wars”. Meaning you can interchange a lot of skills. Has 12 professions (I think) with the option of having a secondary profession and only race to play is human.

Guild Wars 2 has fewer instanced areas (dungeons & storyline), party sizes are only limited in those few instanced areas. Holy trinity is gone. Players have dedicated self heals and everone has the ability to resurrect another player. Half of your skillbar is NOT changeable as those skills are linked specifically to a weapon. THere are 5 races to choose from, there are only 8 professions (no secondary profession option) at this time however, all professions are equally playable at melee, medium and long range.

So although the two games have the same name, there are significant differences.

05/17/2012 / Comments Off

Conditions for candidates and elected Vanarchs

TERA’s political system has been launched and the voting phase of the first election will start in a few days. It is now time to unveil the details of what a Vanarch is, what kind of power he holds as well as the responsibilities each Vanarch will have when running his province. Are you ready to become the greatest leader the world has ever seen.

Since the political system is tightly linked to the guilds, the following stipulations apply for all candidates and elected Vanarchs:

  • You can only register one candidate per game account.
  • The candidates and elected Vanarchs cannot delete their characters during the whole election/ruling phases.
  • The candidates and elected Vanarchs cannot leave or disband their guilds, or delegate their guild master powers to someone else.
  • The elected Vanarchs cannot give up their position and have to set their ruling policies during their tenure.

Blizzard Announce Diablo 3 Release Date Set For May 15th

The 12-year wait for Diablo III is finally coming to an end tonight at 12:00 a.m. PDT. If you’re still unsure whether the game is worth your hard-earned money or not, the Diablo III Starter Edition might just be for you.

This trial edition will give you free access to the first chapter of the game as you fight your way to the Skeleton King, but you’re limited to the first 13 levels, and your matchmaking results will only find other Starter Edition players.

To get immediate access to the Starter Edition, you’ll need a friend who’s already bought the full game to give you their Diablo III guest pass. If you’re a loner and don’t have any buddies to hook you up, you’ll have to wait 30 days after the game’s launch, when the Starter Edition will be available to everyone.

Whichever category you fall into, you’re not going to want to miss  with Gary Gannon, Mike B, and myself as we record a live episode of Gameplay for your viewing pleasure. The festivities start at 11:00 p.m. PDT — see you there!

As we know, Tera Co. will conduct TERA’s first scheduled maintenance

05/14/2012 / Comments Off

As we know, Tera Co. will conduct TERA’s first scheduled maintenance, during which time we will release a brand new patch, version 1.0.29, to the servers.

The first thing to look forward to is the return of blood, together with the slider to adjust this setting. You’ll be able to see the same amount of blood in the game and on the ground, as you were used to in previous beta tests. In case you would like to see nearly no blood or a reduced amount of blood, you can always change this through the returned slider in the options menu.

Want more good news? Perhaps you would like to instill fear into the hearts of all your enemies and send them running at the mere sight of your guild’s war banner? No problem, because we’ll re-activate the function for uploading your own guild emblems. A number of background changes have been made to the system. Always remember to think before you upload images that might violate the rules of conduct or even the law.

This is just a glimpse of the upcoming patch and there will of course be several bug fixes and improvements coming along with this update. For example you’ll find fixes and improvements for the chat system and the search at the auction house. We’ll release the complete patch notes during the maintenance next week.

The goal is to ensure a high quality experience for our players beyond the actual gameplay

05/07/2012 / Comments Off

The goal is to ensure a high quality experience for our players beyond the actual gameplay, everything from account creation to customer support to billing, and all the surrounding and supporting features required for a great overall user experience. But in order to ensure a great experience, it’s extremely important to build the platform specifically tailored to the appropriate audience—in En Masse’s case, North America.

Where key members of our Ops team  met with Bluehole developers for discussions regarding our publishing platform. It was an intense week of collaborations, meetings, brainstorming, question-and-answer sessions, and discussions, but it’s been great working with such an experienced and talented team intent on building a high quality publishing platform focused on great user experiences and streamlined support.

It is the aggregation of features and technology that allows us to publish and service the game efficiently and effectively. This includes features such as an account management system, subscription engine, payment method acceptance, customer support portal, knowledge database, security, moderation and CS support tools, analytics, bot detection, and so much more.

This recent trip was just one of countless examples of the effort that both En Masse and Bluehole are investing into building a great game and platform for TERA players. It was an incredibly busy and productive trip, but we didn’t forget to do one of the things that make working in this industry so awesome: have fun! In fact, I’m happy to report that between Pat, Adam, and me, En Masse held their own against the drinking prowess of the team at Bluehole, a feat not easily accomplished and always regrettable!
