Because back in the day, Blizzard heavily incorporated trolls into the setting’s backstory by giving them an ancient empire that once spanned the entire world, leading to troll ruins and tribes appearing on pretty much every continent. Though, to be fair, Wrath of the Lich King didn’t get a troll-themed patch, and this patch is a pretty reasonable mixture of troll, mogu, and Horde vs Alliance.
