TERA Powerlevel Players

Something I’ve heard asked quite a bit lately is regarding powerleveling and how it works in TERA. As time goes on, more and more players will get maxed out and will want to level alts or help their newer friends level up. To speed this up, powerleveling is a great method. But how does this work in TERA?

Principle of Powerleveling

To start off, understanding what the point of powerleveling and how it works is. This is the same regardless of the game, although the method behind it differs. In its most basic form, powerleveling is helping others (or yourself, via alts) level up at a speed that’s quicker than you’d normally be able to do so. Some players classify “static groups” (where you play with the same people day after day) as powerleveling groups, and depending on the game they can be. In TERA, however, we’re going to focus on one player helping out their friend(s).

Powerleveling in TERA

By far, the most efficient (and easiest) way to help others level up is to assist them with their quests. A lower level player killing higher level mobs will get no experience, and a higher level player killing lower level mobs will give the player no experience. With quests, however, the credit is still granted, regardless of the level of players taking part. As a direct example of this, a level 60 can help a level 20 clear Bastion of Lok (the first dungeon) very quick, and while the level 20 won’t get kill experience, they do finish up their quests, which are the biggest benefit of the dungeon anyways. On top of this, drops are not affected. In other words, the level 20 will still get tons of drops from the dungeon which speeds up their gearing (presumably the level 60 won’t need them, so the level 20 gets all drops, whereas in a normal group you’d be competing with up to 4 others).

One thing that’s important to realize is that you can run out of quests if you’re doing this. The kill experience is meant to go along with the quest experience, so the leveling process is a little slower than the quest progression. In these cases, running normal dungeons with other players or farming BAM’s is usually a good way to make up for it. While this is a little bit of a grind, compared to the normal leveling curve it’s still pretty easy!

Tips to Maximize Powerleveling Effectiveness

Use it in moderation! If you are always being powerleveled, you will at some point end up with a lot of grinding to do in order to get caught up. By moderating yourself, you cut down on this and spread it out over time. Every 5 levels or so, look at how many quests you have, what level you’re up to, etc. and if your level is 3 below your lowed quest or so, go ahead and work on some on your own (or run dungeons) to get caught up. This will ensure that you’ve always got quests you can handle
Once you’re nearing end-game, you won’t need powerleveled as you’ll be doing dungeons, so for the last 10 or so levels you should be set
Do not powerlevel prior to level 15-20 at all. You will slow down your progress considerably by doing so. You can get help on quests here and there, but do not have anyone rush you through them all, as at lower levels the kill experience actually helps out a lot and is factored into the leveling curve
