In the patch released on December 4th, TERA got a new addition to the dungeons for those who choose to queue using the dungeon matching tool. The purpose of these buffs is to help facilitate more PUG’s (pick-up groups) joining the system. The buffs that are included are the following:
Rookie’s Crystalbind
Protects crystals from breaking upon death.
One-time use; disappears once activated, so keep your dying to a minimum.
Does not stack with crystalbind or complete crystalbind.
All party members grouped with a rookie receive the buff.
Does not apply to Manaya’s Core in hard mode.
Rookie’s Oversight
Can resurrect at the location of death once. After that, you’ll have to sweet-talk your healer.
One-time use; disappears once activated.
Does not stack with the mystic’s Vow of Rebirth buff.
Applies to only the rookie (or n00b , if you prefer).
Does not apply to Manaya’s Core in hard mode.
Rookie’s Fervor
Attack power increases by 12 percent.
Does not stack with canephora potion.
Applies to all party members grouped with a rookie.
Does not apply to Manaya’s Core in hard mode or Argon Corpus in hard mode. You’ll have to handle Manaya the hard way.
To obtain these buffs, you need to be relatively new to the instance. After you’ve run one so many times, you will no longer be a rookie (of which you can tell by looking for the green butterfly in the instance matching list, where the butterflies are those you are still a rookie in). This helps because it gives a sort of crutch while you are learning how to do the instances (or while running them with someone else that is new), while allowing you to spread your wings and fly once you understand how everything works! It’s worth noting, however, that none of the rookie buffs are included in Hard Mode Manaya’s Core and Fervor is not included in Hard Mode Argon Corpus.
